Higgensville Geologic Area

This state natural area is a 50,000-year-old bluff that lies just upstream of the Higgensville bridge. Because of its outstanding exposure of local geological characteristics, it is a popular destination for field trips led by the Illinois State Geological Survey in Champaign. As a State Natural Area, it is being managed for preservation.
