Riders enjoy more than 35 miles of equestrian trails in the Middle Fork Fish & Wildlife Area, plus more in
Kennekuk County Park, just across the river. A special equestrian campground is provided in the Fish and Wildlife Area. A trail ride concession operates, just outside the east entrance of Kickapoo State Park. Mountain bike trails also originate at Kickapoo's east entrance, and extend for 8 miles on the east side of the river. Trails in the same area are used by the Kennekuk Road Runners club, which hosts rugged 10K cross-country runs that cross the historic Johnson Bottom Bridge, and then proceed up Johnson Hill and back. Races are held year-around, including the Siberian Express race in the winter which attracts contestants from many states.
